TEXAS — Below is video of Coppell High graduate, and BYU football recruit, Charles West being shot outside Coppell Middle School East on July 5, 2015.

Video of the shooting shows West running away as the shooter fires six shots.

West—who last made news when he was arrested in February and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly sexually assaulting a sex worker—was playing basketball outside of Coppell Middle School East when he was chased and shot. The 18-year-old was treated at a hospital and released.

“It was broad daylight … it wasn’t like he was doing something he wasn’t supposed to be doing,” West’s attorney, Hunt Bonneau, told the Dallas newspaper. “It’s just kind of a really scary event that he’d been very lucky to get through.”

West was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and released the same evening. It is unclear if West was the intended target of the attack, police said.

West confirmed his recovery via his Twitter account late Sunday night, saying: “For all who is concerned I’m fine. May the lord be with everyone.”

No arrests have been made.
