Last month, members of the NYPD Bronx Violent Felony Squad, in collaboration with the Waterbury Connecticut Police Department, apprehended a fugitive they tracked from New York City. The suspect was wanted for a murder that occurred on August 7th within the confines of the Bronx-based 47 Precinct.

Three weeks later, Waterbury Police observed the shooting suspect enter a vehicle on Baldwin Street in Connecticut. With backup from the NYPD, the Waterbury Police moved in for the arrest. As the officers closed in the suspect, he rammed his car into a Waterbury Police vehicle. The suspect then continued driving and attempted to strike a Waterbury police officer with his auto. In response, Detective Parchen was able to open the passenger door to the suspect’s auto and jump into the car. At this point, the subject pulled off again and crashed into a parked car. After a brief struggle, the subject was handcuffed and detained.

The perpetrator was in possession of crack cocaine and will face local charges in addition to New York City charges for his actions during the arrest.
