“The officers’ training and experience was put to good use that night, as it is every night. They noticed that the car had its license plate covered by a plastic bag and that’s not all they were hiding,” said Sergeant Dixon of the 62 Precinct’s Anti-Crime team.

NYPD officers in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn recovered more than 20 pounds of marijuana recently after they investigated a vehicle with its licence plate covered. Police Officers Lavelle and Notaro of the 62 Precinct’s Anti-Crime team were on patrol in the vicinity of 84 Street and New Utrecht Avenue when they noticed a car in the parking lot of a business that was closed. As the officers investigated further they observed the licence plate was obstructed by a plastic bag.

As the officers approached the car to speak with the driver they observed multiple bags of marijuana inside the vehicle. The 31-year-old man was placed under arrest and charged with criminal possession of marijuana.
