BLAINE, Wash. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations at the Peace Arch Port of Entry took a Surrey, British Columbia, man into custody Thursday evening after two Canadian police officers brought him to the Peace Arch. U.S. Marshals had been contacted and were waiting when he arrived.
The 53-year-old Canadian had an outstanding warrant for dangerous drugs from 2006. He was also wanted on six counts of possession of stolen property obtained by crime. His current warrant is for “luring a minor for conspiracy to traffic controlled substances.”
“This man has an extensive criminal record,” said Area Port Director Kenneth L Williams. “The bi-national effort to get him back into custody proved successful once again.”
The man was deported by an immigration judge in 2000. He has been fighting his extradition to the United States for more than a decade.
Two U.S. Marshals departed with the man without further incident.
