Chemical Explosion At Illegal Warehouse Storing Three Tonnes Of Alcohol In Tianjin

WATCH: (Scroll Down For Video) Exactly two months after the huge blast that rocked the city of Tianjin another warehouse has gone up in flames, which led to an explosion.

The latest explosion on October 12 was at an illegal storage facility containing around one tonne of acetic acid and over three tonnes of alcohol, reported People’s Daily Online.

There are no injuries currently reported.

According to initial reports, the explosion occurred at around 10:30pm local time.

The 5,382 square-foot warehouse was located in a town to the north of Tianjin.

Local reports indicate that there was around one tonne of acetic acid and over three tonnes of alcohol stored at the facility without permit.

There was also said to be 0.8 tonnes of glycerol, 0.5 tonnes of sodium hydroxide and 0.5 tonnes of potassium hydroxide.

Leaked alcohol from the facility caught fire, which later spread into the warehouse and causing an explosion.

The fire is now under control.

At present, no injuries or casualties have been reported.

The explosion is currently still under investigation.

According to Tianjin government, the facility was leased by a company from nearby Hebei province.

Chinese media has reported the company is registered as Tianjin Yong Sheng Chemical Co., Ltd.
