Citizens Chase, Detain Attempted Rapist In California

STOCKTON, CA — This morning, around 7:30 am, the suspect drove to Elkhorn Elementary School (10500 block of Davis Road) and exposed himself to staff after identifying himself as a police officer.

He then drove to Wagner Holt Elementary (8700 block of Brattle Place) and exposed himself to an adult female. He got out of his truck and tried to drag her to a driveway while saying he was going to sexually assault her. The victim was able to punch the suspect and run away.

The suspect then drove to Wagner Heights Rehabilitation (9200 block of Branstetter Place) and exposed himself to an adult female. When officers located the suspect, the suspect fled in his vehicle into the neighborhood. The suspect dumped his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot when he was detained by some community members in the area of Bixby Way and Bainbridge Place.

Officers then took the suspect into custody. Arrested was Donald Kendrick, 47, for attempted rape, indecent exposure, and impersonating a peace officer.
