Former reality TV star and actor Clay Adler reportedly committed suicide last month—he was 27-years-old.
According to TMZ, Adler was ‘shooting with friends in the desert’ on March 25 when he turned his weapon and intentionally shot himself in the head. He died in the hospital a day later.
Adler’s father confirmed the news to PEOPLE: No drugs or alcohol were found in his system. “He had been clean for several years,” Frank tells PEOPLE.
“We saw him every minute of every day while he was there,” Frank says of the time he spent with his son in the hospital. “We had an amazing time with him at the hospital,” Clay’s father added.
MTV released the following statement: “We are saddened by the news of Clay Adler’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time.”
