Sgt. George Kumburis told ABC: ‘This inmate has filed for a public defender and the application has been sent. He is allowed visitors and has not had any to my knowledge. He has eaten the same meals we provide to the general population – cereal, eggs, sandwiches, etc.’

Eric Frein has been lonely, quiet and hasn’t received any visitors since he was jailed following his capture last week after 48 days on the run.

The alleged cop killer is being held in a five by eight cell in ‘max status protective custody’ at Pike County Jail in Lords Valley, Pennsylvania, and hasn’t spoken much, according to officials.

The 31-year-old was taken to the facility after he was tormented by members of the public as he arrived for his first court appearance on Friday

Frein faces multiple charges, including murder in the first degree, homicide of a law enforcement officer, attempted murder of a law enforcement officer and possession of a weapon of mass destruction. ABC
