Bomb Techs Investigate Suspicious Items Left on Street In NJ, Buildings Evacuated

NEW JERSEY — Police in Newark are investigating a suspicious package found in the 600-block of Delancey Street today.

At 2:26 p.m., Newark Police and Firefighters responded to reports of two suspicious objects. For precautionary reasons, buildings in the immediate area were evacuated and traffic is being diverted as bomb techs and other members of the Emergency Service Unit respond to the location.

Technicians continue to examine the device in an attempt to determine whether the item poses a threat.
