DeFuniak Springs, FL — Residents in Walton County, Florida are on edge after a woman was attacked by a mysterious animal.
The woman initially told police she thought it was a bear but officials say they can confirm it was not.
Following is a news release from the Sheriff’s Department: Tuesday at 8:12am Walton County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to a woman possibly attacked by an animal on Eglin property.
Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 8866 U.S Highway 331 South along with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
The victim was transported by Walton County EMS with non-life threatening injuries. There is NO confirmation at this time to WHAT type of species was involved in the attack.
Florida Fish and Wildlife will be investigating. The Walton County Sheriff’s Office would like to ask residents to please be aware of the situation and make proper precautions.
The investigation is ongoing.
