DEKALB COUNTY, Georgia — A police officer was shot responding to a burglary in progress call at Boulderwoods Drive around 7:35 p.m. Monday night..
Responding officers went to the wrong house after getting a vague description of the address of the burglary, police said.
Shots rang out and the Officer and homeowner were both hit.
The Officer is critical and was rushed to the hospital and was in surgery.
The condition of the homeowner was not known, but was also hit in the leg. A family dog was killed in the incident.

The GBI will conduct the investigation.
