Hundreds Evacuated From Corona, Calif. Schools, Homes Due To Threat

CALIFORNIA — On Tuesday, around 10:23 a.m. Corona Dispatch received a call for medical aid for a man down, unconscious in a vehicle behind a vacant commercial building located at the 800 block of North Main Street in Corona.

Upon arrival a note was found attached to the van which included a bomb threat. As a result, Corona Police and Fire Departments have evacuated the adjacent elementary school, Parkridge elementary, Amberlite Mobile Home Park, and Partridge Meadows Apartments.

Corona Police Department is currently working in conjunction with Riverside County Hazardous Device Team and Corona Fire Hazardous Materials Team on this investigation. The condition of the man inside of the suspect vehicle was not known.

750 students and 80 staff members from Parkridge Elementary have been evacuated to Norco High School. Parents are advised to pick up their children from the Norco High School Gymnasium. For more information please contact the Corona Norco Unified School District at 951-736-5003.

The area remains an active scene, Corona residents are advised to please avoid the area.

Parkridge Avenue is closed east of Main Street.
