IREDELL COUNTY, North Carolina — Officials with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office are investigating after a man, identified as 31-year-old Shawn Fuller, allegedly murdered his two young sons before attempting to commit suicide.
From WCCB: Officials were called to a house on Trent Road in Iredell County around 3:45 Sunday morning for reports of an intoxicated man firing a gun. When they arrived they found a man outside with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
After entering the house, deputies found two boys, ages three and four deceased.
The suspect is at the hospital in critical condition. Fuller shot the boys after getting into an argument with the boys’ mother, according to officials. The two boys were brothers and lived in the home with their parents.
From Inquisitr: Fuller’s next door neighbor, Ronnie Patterson, told local media that Fuller and his family moved into the home around Christmas of last year. He says that Fuller often fired guns in his backyard.
Patterson said that Fuller shot at milk jugs, cans and trees. He said it was not uncommon for Fuller and his friends to be drinking while they were shooting guns.
The report said neighbors recalled Fuller as “paranoid” and said he was always worried about a break-in at the home he shared with the children and their mother.
An investigation is ongoing. No further details were available.
