CALIFORNIA — National City, Calif. police were responding to a bomb scare at the Mariachi Festival at Pepper Park Sunday.
Festival-goers were told to clear the area as investigators were focusing on an “unattended” backpack.
Police told local media they evacuated the scene out of precaution. The bomb squad was called in.

No injuries were reported.
The festival’s website describes the event as a ‘community-friendly event providing entertainment for families to come together and celebrate San Diego’s Mexican heritage through mariachi music, traditional ballet folkloric dancing, and a celebration of arts, culture, and culinary delights.’
National City is located in the South Bay region of the San Diego metropolitan area, in southwestern San Diego County.
