FORT WORTH, TEXAS — On May 3, at 5:08 p.m., Officer GG Hempstead was dispatched to U.S. Highway 287 and Miller Road in reference to a tan dog ‘running around’ in the traffic lanes. Officers were advised that Good Samaritans were attempting to catch the dog. Upon arrival, officers observed the injured dog being comforted by several citizens.
Officers were advised the dog had been hit by a car, and then, in desperation to survive, jumped off a bridge. The Fort Worth Fire Department and an off-duty Fort Worth Animal Control veterinarian technician stopped by the scene and offered assistance. Officer Hempstead realized the dog needed immediate care and contacted Apollo Support & Rescue.
The Good Samaritans named the dog Bridget (Bridge) Rose. Bridget is undergoing surgery today (May 5) to repair two broken legs and a dislocated elbow. For those interested in offering donations for Bridge Rose’s surgery and care, donations can be made through Apollo Support & Rescue.
