Even amid a stretch chock full of high-dollar fundraisers, Hillary Clinton’s final stop in Northern California on Wednesday was notable for its price of admission: $200,000 per person.
The early evening gathering was held at the Woodside home of Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Steve Jobs, the co-founder and former chief executive officer of Apple Inc., according to information released by Clinton’s campaign. About 20 people were said to have attended.
The Democratic presidential nominee has spent much of August raising huge sums for the national party, which can accept vastly larger contributions than her campaign, as a result of rules being loosened in 2014.
As of Monday, Clinton and her running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia, had scooped up at least $32 million this month at fundraisers for the Hillary Victory Fund, which distributes money to Clinton’s campaign, the Democratic National Committee and state parties.
The Wednesday evening event appears to have added at least another $4 million to that total.
Tim Cook, Apple’s current CEO, was listed as a host at another Wednesday event in Los Altos Hills, according to Clinton’s campaign.
During August, Clinton and Kaine have had a few fundraisers with minimum donations of $50,000, and one with an asking price of $100,000, according to summaries released by the campaign. The latter one was hosted in Omaha by Susan Buffett, the daughter of Warren Buffett, a business magnate and investor.
Clinton’s fundraising swing through California this week has been aided by several celebrities, including Cher. On Tuesday, Clinton mingled with stars such as Jennifer Aniston, Jamie Foxx and Tobey Maguire at the Hollywood Hills home of pop star Justin Timberlake and his wife, actress Jessica Biel, for another fundraiser.
