Double Murder-Suicide in Pennsylvania Home Draped in Christmas Lights: DA

Multiple fired shell casings and other ballistic evidence was located within the scene. A deceased male, Paul Marshall, age 48, was also located inside the residence.

Norristown, Pennsylvania — Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman and Hatfield Township Police Chief William J. Tierney announce a joint investigation into an apparent double homicide and suicide, which occurred inside 138 Diamond Street, Hatfield Borough.

On Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 11:34 PM, the Hatfield Township Police Department responded to 138 Diamond Street for a reported shooting.

Arriving officers located two deceased gunshot victims, a female, age 48, and her son, age 28, inside the residence. The victims sustained gunshot wounds. Multiple fired shell casings and other ballistic evidence was located within the scene. A deceased male, Paul Marshall, age 48, was also located inside the residence.

The initial investigation has revealed that Marshall died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A semi-automatic rifle was located in Marshall’s possession. An autopsy on Marshall was conducted this morning and the manner of death was ruled a suicide.

Autopsies of the victims are ongoing and being conducted by a forensic pathologist at the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

At the time of the shooting, a 27 year old female and her 4 year old child were inside the residence, but both were uninjured.

The investigation remains ongoing.
