Lawyers for El Chapo have said that he won’t get a fair trial because of Donald Trump.
They explain that his comments about Mexican immigrants being rapists and murderers is evidence that any trial will be biased.
Officials from the U.S. want Guzmaan imprisoned in the America because of his previous escapes.
With an estimated net worth of $1billion from drug smuggling, he was first captured and sentenced in 1933 to 20 years in prison, he then escaped in 2001.
He was then located and captured in January 2016.
Mexican officials have now agreed that extradition to the US is in the best interests for both countries.
However, legal experts have warned that this process will take over a year.
Donald Trump has referenced Guzman multiple times, accusing the cartel boss of using the border ‘like a vacuum cleaner’.
El Chapo is currently being held in the same prison he previously escaped from.
Prison officials have reassured authorities that improvements have been made and vowed he cannot escape.
