The FBI are now hunting for a robber who is disguised as a security guard who stole $500,000 from an armored truck in Detroit.

The secure truck had pulled up outside a casino in the city and the suspect, who was dressed in the full uniform of a Loomis employee approached the driver, asking him to open the back doors.

The doors were opened, as he believed the man was a co-worker but the robber grabbed several bags of cash, worth more than half-a-million dollars and walked off.

No gun or any other weapon was brandished during the incident.

He was then seen walking east towards Monroe and the heading towards the 375 freeeway.

The driver called the police and both them and the FBI are reviewing CCTV footage to try and trace the suspect.

They are also trying to establish if the robber knew that that the truck was going to be parked there and how he managed to obtain a uniform.

Sergeant Cassandra Lewis of the Detroit Police Department told ABC: ‘The good thing is no one was hurt.

‘And at this point that’s the most important thing. But we will continue our investigation to ascertain who’s responsible and what happened.’

But despite the location of the crime, Greektown Casino have distanced themselves from it.

In a statement to 7 Action News, they said: ‘Greektown Casino was not the target of the alleged larceny involving an armored vehicle this morning on Beaubien Street in Detroit.

‘The incident did not take place at our casino and did not involve funds going into or coming out of our property.’
