Five Skiers Killed In Austrian Alps Avalanche That Buried 17 People

Five skiers have been killed today in an avalanche that struck the Austrian alps.

Twelve people were also buried in snow and sustained injuries.

Police have not yet commented on the severity of the injuries.

The avalanche occurred at around midday in Wattental valley, which is 25 miles southeast of Innsbruck.

A Tirol police spokesperson said that some of the skiers had been killed but couldn’t comment on the exact number.

Officials recently confirmed that five of the skiers had tragically been killed.

The names of the victims have not yet been released to the public.

Rescue crews and emergency services arrived to the incident via a rescue helicopter to search for any survivor that were buried in the snow.
