SARASOTA, FL — The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 28-year-old man for Aggravated Child Abuse after he brought a 3-year-old child to the hospital with severe injuries.
Deputies were called to Sarasota Memorial Hospital (SMH) early Saturday morning after Nicholas Ritter, DOB 05/18/88, brought the child victim in with several bruises to her chest and back, fractures to her skull and a laceration to her chin.
Ritter disclosed to medical staff that the child had fallen, however doctors indicated to detectives that the injuries were consistent with blunt force trauma.
The child was transported to All Children’s Hospital where she remains in serious condition.
Ritter was arrested Saturday morning and remains in custody on $100,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing.
