A 20-year-old man from Florida has been arrested after he pledged allegiance to Allah and planned to kill his boss while dressed as the comic-book villain Joker.
Enrique Dominguez, aged 20, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault in connection to the alleged plot.
According to local reports, Miami-Dade Homeland Security Bureau received reports that Dominguez had expressed an intent to kill his boss at his place of work.
Dominguez told a colleague he bought a shotgun and planned to shoot his boss on Tuesday after he pledged allegiance to Allah.
When police executed a search warrant at the man’s home in Kendall, they say they found a canvas bag containing a clown mask, duct tape, plastic wrap, latex gloves and two large combat style knives.
In court Saturday, Dominguez’s attorney Saam Zangeneh called Dominguez a ‘good kid’ and downplayed the threats.
‘This may have been some Internet lashing out when you get frustrated with someone and you post things on the Internet,’ he said.
‘Everybody has duct tape in their houses, everybody has knives,’ one friend told NBC Miami. ‘He likes collecting knives.’
A judge has set Dominguez’s bail at $5,000 and ordered that he should remain under house arrest pending his trial.
