Former New York Giants Linebacker Quincy Monk Dies At 36

Former New York Giants line backer Quincy Monk has died of cancer at the age of 36.

The 36-year-old former footballer was diagnosed three months ago with a aggressive cancer adenocarcinoma as he was recovering from a major stroke.

He played with the New York Giants and the Houston Texans after attending the University of North Carolina.

He is survived by his wife Lisa and two children Naomi and Aiden.

The college tweeted: ‘We are deeply saddened to learn that UNC’s Quincy Monk passed away today. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.’

‘My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Lisa, and his two beautiful children, Naomi and Aiden.’

The Jacksonville native established a GoFundMe page to help pay for his cancer treatment following his diagnosis.

It had raised $60,000 of the $100,000 by the time he passed away.

In a statement to the NewsObserver.com, UNC coach Larry Fedora said: ‘In the brief time I knew him, it became clear how great of person he was, how much this university meant to him and how much this football program was part of his life.
