NASHVILLE – (TBI) — An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the indictment of a former Spring Hill police officer for the second time in two months, on charges of sex-related offenses while on duty.
At the request of 22nd District Attorney General Brent Cooper, in August, TBI Special Agents began investigating then-Spring Hill police officer Christopher Patrick Odom on allegations of sexual battery and official misconduct while on duty.
Based on information obtained during that investigation, the Maury County Grand Jury subsequently returned indictments charging Odom with one count of Rape, one count of Sexual Battery, and two counts of Official Misconduct. Odom was arrested on those charges on October 3rd. Information obtained during that investigation also revealed that there were violations in the 21st Judicial District, and District Attorney General Kim Helper was briefed on the case.
During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that in September 2015, while on duty as a Spring Hill police officer, Odom stopped an adult female, followed her home on the Williamson County side of Spring Hill, and made her engage in sexual contact with him.
On Monday, the Williamson County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Odom, 26, with two counts of Rape and two counts of Official Misconduct. Odom turned himself in this afternoon and was booked at the Williamson County Jail on a $150,000 bond. He is no longer employed by the Spring Hill police department.
