A student from Georgia claimed to be in jail to skip an exam but ended up being placed behind bars after he was caught lying.

Deonta Demon Stephens told his Life University professor in Atlanta, Georgia, that he was unable to attend an exam because he had to go to court and was behind bars.

But his lie quickly unraveled when his professor asked him to produce documentation about his stay in jail – and Stephens forged the papers – only to end up being put behind bars for the forgery.

His professor contacted authorities after Stephens gave him the paperwork to check things out, and after an investigation, the student was charged with two felony counts of forgery,The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

According to an arrest warrant Stephens was taken into custody after the ‘accused created a document purportedly from the State Court of Cobb County stating he was ordered by the court to spend three days in custody, when in fact no such order was issued.’

Stephens was arrested last week and held for a few hours at the Cobb jail, before being released on $2,500 bond.
