IRVING, Texas — One girl has died and two boys are in the intensive care unit after an incident at a swimming pool at an apartment complex in Irving.
The deceased victim is a 10-year-old girl. The two others, boys, 9 and 11 are being treated at a hospital.
Irving Fire Assistant Chief R.W. Wilson told CBS-DFW the children’s mother was poolside and unable to swim. She called for help when she realized the kids were in trouble and a maintenance worker heard her screams.
FROM CBS-DFW: “The third child was still in the pool when first responders arrived and Wilson said the water was so murky, it was very tough to see that child. He said the paramedic had to “go by feel” to find the child who was at the bottom of the deep end of the pool.
It happened at the Oak Villas Apartment complex in the 2300 block of North MacArthur Blvd. shortly before 4 p.m. Crime tape could be seen around the pool from Chopper 11.”
