A report has found that intruders breach U.S. airport fences every 10 days, despite investments to fortify the nation’s airfields.

As security screening lines increase, documents have revealed more incidents happened on the outside perimeters than airports have publicly disclosed.

One incident included an intruder in Phoenix who was nearly hit by a plane as it prepared to take off and a man who tossed a bike over a fence at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport and made it inside a passenger terminal.

AP is updating its reporting with 77 more breaches that airports had not revealed earlier, or that happened during 2015 or early 2016.

Five intruders brought knives and one a loaded gun.

Officials have outlined that no case involved a known terrorist plot.

A spokesperson indicated that most were trespassers, delusional or intoxicated.

One man got into a helicopter cockpit and was preparing to take off from the airport.

An aviation consultant reported to AP: ‘The straight-up honest answer as to why it’s not being vigorously addressed? Nothing bad’s happened. Yet.’
