TURKEY — An explosion at an Istanbul metro station which has left at least one person dead may have been caused by a bomb, according to Turkish media.
Turkish broadcaster NTV has reported that the blast, which has left multiple people inured, may have been caused by a bomb.
Trains operations at the Bayrampasa metro station have been suspended.
The Mayor of Bayrampasa district of Istanbul has said the explosion on overpass near metro station was caused by a bomb.
Photographs on social media showed what appears to be dozens of people walking across overground train tracks after trains had been halted.
It is believed the explosion happened at an overpass near the Bayrampasa metro station.
Turkey’s Haberturk TV said the blast was apparently triggered by a power transformer.
Eyewitnesses said that many ambulances were heard rushing to the scene after the blast was heard.
