JetBlue, the sixth-largest airline in the United States, is offering to fly families of victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High shooting free to the area.

The airline made the announcement on their blog:

We are deeply saddened by the news of Wednesday’s shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL, and our hearts go out to the victims and their loved ones.

This week’s events are felt by all of our 21,000 crewmembers, many of whom live in, work from and travel through the Broward County area, home to our Focus City, Fort Lauderdale. We want to do our part to help the community, and support South Florida through this difficult time.

We’re honored to be able to offer assistance to the Parkland community during this difficult time. JetBlue volunteers are available in the Family Assistance Center to book free air travel on JetBlue for victims’ families traveling to Parkland and provide access to free ground transportation with Lyft.

Additionally, along with our partner, the Florida Panthers, we will also be holding a blood drive at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, FL on Thursday, February 22 from 12pm-7pm.

On the afternoon of February 14, 2018, a mass shooting occurred at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, in the Miami metropolitan area. Seventeen people were killed and fifteen more were taken to hospitals, making it one of the world’s deadliest school massacres.
