Pa. High School Teacher Charged In Sexual Relationship with Student

Alhambra Unified School District was made aware of a rumor regarding an intimate relationship that was allegedly occurring between a female high school student and her adult basketball coach.

BERKS COUNTY, PA — (Press Release / County of Berks DA) — On June 13, 2016, detectives from the Berks County District Attorney’s Child Abuse Unit initiated an investigation after receiving a Child Abuse complaint from Childline and the Berks County Children & Youth Services. During the investigation, detectives learned that the defendant, Stephanie France Luckey, had inappropriate contact with a seventeen (17) year old male student (victim #1). The defendant was an English teacher at Muhlenberg High School.

On June 20 and July 13, 2016, Berks County Detectives conducted forensic interviews of victim #1, at which times he disclosed the following information. In April thru June of the 2016 school year, the defendant created a private Twitter account with victim #1 so she could privately converse directly with victim #1. During this time period, the conversations between victim #1 and the defendant turned sexual in nature. The defendant sent victim #1 five to ten partially nude and nude photographs of herself. Also, the defendant sent a video recording of herself performing a sexual act. Furthermore, the victim disclosed that the defendant and he would kiss in her classroom after school.

On July 5, 2016, detectives conducted an interview with the defendant. During the interview, the defendant confirmed the aforementioned allegations and did admit to the offenses.

On August 4, 2016, the defendant submitted her resignation to the Superintendent of Schools at the Muhlenberg School District.

On September 26, 2016, detectives obtained a warrant of arrest for Stephanie France Luckey. The warrant was issued by Magisterial District Judge Dean R. Patton.

Today, September 27, 2016, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the defendant surrendered to detectives at the Berks County District Attorney’s Office. Currently, she is being processed and awaiting video arraignment.
