NEVADA — Monday, Nye County Sheriff’s Office were in the area of Wal-Mart when they saw a vehicle that they had received information had a fictious plate on it. Detectives initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver/suspect.
During the contact the suspect identified himself as a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officer by providing his Metro Personnel number with the purpose of not getting a citation for the initial stop.
This vehicle and driver/suspect has been contacted on 2 previous incidents in which he claimed to be a Police Office by providing his Metro Personnel number to not get a citation.
William Carns, 45, is now facing charges for impersonation of a peace officer, unregistered vehicle and fictitious registration.
The suspect was placed under arrest for the above charges and transported to NCDC for booking.
