Family of 4 Vanish During Hike In Arizona; Children Among Missing

TUCSON, ARIZONA — The Sheriff’s Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a family that has gone missing after hiking on Mount Lemmon:

Officials received information about the missing family at approximately 8:55 a.m. today. The information received was that a woman contacted the US Forest Service saying her father and brother took her two young daughters for a hike along the Butterfly Trail yesterday, June 26, 2016.

They were last seen around 10:00 a.m. and have not been seen or heard from since.

All four family members were supposed to return last night. Their vehicle is still up on Mount Lemmon, near the trailhead.

The following family members are missing right now:

– 57-year-old William Swango
(Caucasian, brown hair, blue eyes, 5’9” tall)

– 27-year-old Ronald Swango
(Caucasian, black hair, brown eyes, 5’7” tall)

– 6-year-old Riley Nash
(Caucasian, brown hair, brown eyes, last seen wearing a flowered dress)

– 4-year-old Layla Nash
(Caucasian, brown hair, brown eyes, last seen wearing pink striped pants and a purple polka dot shirt)

Our Search and Rescue Unit has taken over the search and several volunteers with the Southern Arizona Rescue Association are assisting. Anyone with information on the location of this family is urged to call 9-1-1.
