COLUMBIA, Mississippi — Saturday evening, Columbia Police — Press Release: were alerted to a medical call on Dale Street. When Officers arrived on scene, they were met in the yard by a male victim of a stabbing and notified of a female victim inside the residence.
The male victim told Officers that he came home and discovered his elderly mother being stabbed by a black male. The male victim fought the suspect off and was also stabbed.
The female victim was able to alert authorities with a Medical Alert device. When Officers arrived on scene, the suspect had already fled on foot.
Officers searched the area and was told by a very alert witness that had seen a suspicious black male in the area shortly before the call. That witness was able to provide Officers with a good description and officers had the suspect in custody within minutes. Officers were also able to recover items taken from the victims home.
The suspect was arrested and is currently being questioned by Detectives. The victims were transported to Forrest General Hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
