TAMPA — (Scroll down for video) — Rapper Kevin Gates, also known as Kevin Jerome Gilyard has been charged with simple battery after a video went viral that appeared to show him kicking a fan.
The assault happened during a performance this past Friday at Club Rumor in Lakeland.
The woman, 18, was kicked so hard she fell back and police said she lost consciousness.
Gates is a rapper from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He has a history of arrests.
In March, Gates got into a scuffle at a concert in Michigan. (That video follows.)
