ST. LOUISĀ — A Police Officer was shot Sunday night in North St. Louis.
The scene is in the 4300 block of College Avenue.
Around 9:45 p.m., an officer was struckĀ and rushed to the St. Louis hospital. He has since been released.
Investigators were applying for warrants against the suspect.
A suspect is reportedly in custody. The injured Officer is 24-years old & graduated from the Police Academy last month. He suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
KSDK reports: “Police say the incident occurred at around 9:45 Sunday night at the intersection of College Avenue and Carter Avenue, when a call came out for an officer in need of aid.
Dotson said a person “known to law enforcement” take off running when he noticed the officers’ patrol car.
The officers got out of their car and chased the suspected into a gangway. That’s where Dotson says there was a struggle between the first-year officer and the suspect. Dotson says the suspect pulled a pistol from his waistband. The officer attempted to get the weapon from the suspect when the suspect shot him in the neck/shoulder area. The officer returned fire as the suspect fled the scene, but missed.”
