NEW LONDON, Connecticut — A 17-year-old girl was shot in the arm and a 4-year-old  was grazed by gunfire after a shooting at an apartment complex on Crystal Avenue in New London Monday night.

According to surveillance video, two male suspects came running from the apartment complex’s rear parking lot and started randomly firing shots toward the courtyard area, striking two unintended victims.

Police say a white minivan, either a Chrysler or Dodge, with a sunroof, was seen leaving from the parking lot just before 10 PM Monday night, with at least two individuals in it. One of the suspects was said to be wearing a white sweatshirt. The person believed to be the shooter was wearing all black, according to police.

From WTNH: ““I was watching TV with my kids when I heard the noise, and when I went to the window I just saw a bunch of police outside and people screaming and running everywhere,” said Glorida Delgado, who lives nearby.

“I tried to stay away from the windows and all that,” said Milton Rivera. “After it was over, then I looked.”

Parents say they don’t feel safe letting their kids outside.

“I don’t take my kids outside,” said Delgado. “Every time, instead of playing outside here I just take them to the playground.”

Locals say it’s not the first time they’re heard gunshots, and they’re concerned about their safety.

“It could happen to my child. It could happen to me. It could happen to my husband.””

Both children are expected to be okay. No arrests have been made. An investigation is ongoing.

New London is a seaport city and a port of entry on the northeast coast of the United States. It is located at the mouth of the Thames River in New London County, southeastern Connecticut.
