On Monday, around 2:30 p.m., a New York State Police Member was struck by a vehicle while assisting a disabled motorist on the overpass from the westbound Long Island Expressway to southbound Sagtikos Parkway.
The Trooper suffered serious injuries and was taken to Southside Hospital in Bayshore, where the member is listed in critical condition and is undergoing surgery.
The driver of the vehicle did stop at the scene; no charges have been filed in the crash.
The name of the member is being withheld at this time.
