Simi Valley, CALIFORNIA — 2017 got off to a tragic start for the Los Angeles Police Department. Early Sunday morning, the LAPD says one of their police officers assigned to Devonshire Division was killed in a car crash.
Police Officer III Heather Monroe, 30, was off-duty when she was involved in a fatal traffic collision in Simi Valley.
Police say Monroe was a passenger in the vehicle when it crashed with an Uber car.
The Simi Valley Police Department is investigating.
