Honduras — A powerful earthquake struck off the coast of Honduras Tuesday night.
The 7.6 magnitude quake prompted a Tsunami advisory for Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and the Coast of Central America.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake hit around 8:51 p.m. local time—about 27 miles east of Great Swan Island, Honduras and 135 miles from Brus Laguna, Honduras.
On Twitter, President Juan Orlando Hernandez said Honduras has activated the emergency system and residents are urged to remain calm.
There were no immediate reports of damage.
