Man Arrested After He Struck His Son with a Van During Dispute

Cortlandville, NY – On July 28, 2015, at about 1:57p.m., New York State Police at Homer arrested David W. Sanford, 43, of Cortland, NY for the felony of Assault 2nd and the misdemeanor of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

This arrest occurred after troopers responded to a Cortland County 911 report of two people fighting on Blodgett Mills Road, in the Town of Cortlandville.

An investigation determined that while in a physical dispute with his 16 year old son, Sanford got into his van and pulled forward striking his son as he drove away.

The son was transported to Cortland Regional Medical Center by ambulance, where he was treated for back pain and dizziness.

Sanford was arraigned in the Town of Cortlandville Court and released after making a $750.00 cash bail or $1,500.00 property bond.
