The NYPD arrested a man who was carrying a gas canister and matches near Rockefeller Plaza on Monday, officials confirmed the following day.
Yuriy Alterman, aged 38, was carrying “Son of Hamas,” when he was busted Monday afternoon.
Police officers were alerted at 2:45 p.m. of a man who was acting erratically and was heard yelling “Fuck the NYPD,” police confirmed.
When officers questioned Alterman, he allegedly told them: “Sometimes you guys do things that make others do things, even though that’s not who we are.”
“Have you seen the news today?” he added.
The NYPD did not provide further details as to what Alterman was referring to.
Alterman had previously been arrested four times in New York City and had an outstanding warrant.
Alterman faces charges of making terroristic threats.
