NEW YORK — On July 3, 2015, at approximately 4:15 am, State Police observed a red motorcycle operating at more than 100 mph on the Palisades Parkway in the Town of Clarkstown.

State Police attempted to pull the motorcycle over, but the operator accelerated further and the pursuit was terminated for safety reasons.

At approximately 5:15 am, Troopers observed the motorcycle involved in the previous pursuit traveling southbound on the Palisades Parkway, approaching Exit 11.

As the motorcycle operator left the Parkway at Exit 11, the Trooper activated his emergency lighting. The operator moved as if to pull over, then accelerated at a high rate of speed, turning left onto Hempstead Road in the Town of Clarkstown.

While traveling eastbound on New Hempstead Road, Troopers observed a cloud of dust, and the motorcycle off the south shoulder of the roadway.

The operator, Gregory Grant, 28, of Brooklyn, was ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation continues.
