MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Maryland — Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division have arrested Nicholas Morales-Macedo, age 24, of the 9400 block of Thornhill Road in Silver Spring, for committing sex offenses while impersonating a police officer.

On January 15, 2012, 3rd District officers responded to the Days Inn at 8040 13th Street in Silver Spring. The 44-year-old victim stated that she was sexually assaulted in a hotel room by a subject who identified himself as a police officer.

The victim told officers that she and Morales-Macedo spoke online and agreed to meet at the Days Inn on January 15, 2012. The victim said she was in the room when Morales-Macedo entered, displayed a silver badge on a chain around his neck, and stated that he was a police officer.

She further said that Morales-Macedo handcuffed her and told her that if she performed sexual acts on him that she would not be arrested. Morales-Macedo then sexually assaulted the victim and left after obtaining her identification and writing the information on a piece of paper.

DNA obtained from the scene was entered into evidence and analyzed. The DNA was then entered into a national database and on June 12, 2015, Montgomery County Police were notified that a match was made identifying Morales-Macedo as the suspect involved in this crime.

Morales-Macedo was arrested in Rockville on July 17. He was transported to the Central Processing Unit where he was charged with two counts of second degree sex offense and ordered held without bond. The police impersonation allegations are still under investigation and charges are possible.
