FLORIDA-Sumter County– Police responded to a trespassing call after Brown, who has a Texas address, wouldn’t leave the 35-year-old woman’s home.
As deputies were going to the home, dispatchers said one of the women “cried out and the phone disconnected.”
Michael Brown, 39, was found dead around 5 p.m. in a wooded area off County Road 673, Fla..
Deputies say a handgun was found at Brown’s feet so he also may have shot himself. An autopsy will determine the cause of death, deputies said.
He allegedly shot a 35-year-old woman in the chest and a 21-year-old woman in the shoulder, deputies said. The 35-year-old was in critical condition while the 21-year-old was in stable condition.
Dispatchers then received another call that said a second woman had been shot and Brown had fled.
Deputies arrived on scene and heard shots coming from the woods.
A SWAT team responded and deputies searched for Brown in the wooded area behind the home.
Shortly before 5 p.m., deputies discovered Brown’s vehicle with the trunk open about 6 miles away near Breezy Oaks RV park on CR 683.
The sheriff’s helicopter spotted Brown about 100 feet east of the vehicle in the wood line and not moving.
They discovered Brown in the tree.
Police do not yet know a motive.
