“Becoming a New York City police officer was my dream!” said Officer Lauren Amin.

Officer Amin recently graduated from the NYPD Police Academy along with more than 430 other officers. The officers come from a variety of backgrounds being united in one goal – to join the NYPD and protect the people of New York City.

Officer Amin, now assigned to PSA 7 (NYPD Housing Bureau) in the Bronx, is a first generation New Yorker and American. Her parents immigrated to New York City from Jordan. Prior to joining the NYPD, Officer Amin worked in a hospital emergency room. She describes the experiences she learned there as being helpful for her new job protecting New York City,

“I was able to help people in crisis working there. Those experiences will help me be a police officer that can understand and assist people when they need it most.”
