MESA COUNTY, COLORADO — A Mesa County Sheriff’s Deputy was reportedly shot in the line of duty Monday afternoon. He was rushed to a hospital. The extent of the injuries were not known.
According to TheDenverChannel, a man armed with a gun and wearing a bandana over his face was seen walking near Fruitvale Court around 11:15 a.m. When the deputy approached, the suspect opened fire.
The gunman fled the scene but was later apprehended. Schools in the area were on lockdown.
