EL PASO, TEXAS — (Press Release / EPPD) — Detectives with the Crimes Against Children unit arrested and charged 35-year old Adam Lee Newport with Aggravated Sexual Assault of Child and Improper Relationship between Educator/Student.
Detectives were called to investigate an Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child on Wednesday, October 12, 2016. Investigators identified Newport as an employee/teacher/coach at Riverside Middle School.
The investigation revealed that Newport had an improper relationship with a student, while acting as an educator/coach, that fulfilled the elements of the listed charges.
Investigators were able to identify a 13-year old female victim.
Newport was placed under arrest and booked into the El Paso County Jail for the offenses of Aggravated Sexual Assault (Bond $150,000.00) of a Child and Improper Relationship Between Educator/Student (Bond $50,000.00). Bonds totaled $200,000.00.
