BEIJING — A Chinese woman was killed after being involved into an escalator as its pedal cracked all of a sudden at a shopping mall in Jingzhou city, Hubei on Sunday.
The woman lifted out her child to safety at the very last moment.

CNN reports Chinese state media quoted sources saying that workers forgot to screw down the panel after maintaining the escalator between the sixth and seventh floors.
