A 24-year-old mother has been arrested in Florida this weekend after beating her child for flushing $720 down the toilet.
Police were then called to the Orange County apartment of Danielle Whipple at around 7:45 pm on Sunday, after they received an anonymous tip that a woman inside an apartment was beating a child so bad that the child’s nose was bleeding.
When police arrived on scene, they found the child with a black eye and a red hand-print on the face.
According to an arrest report obtained by the Orlando Sentinel, Whipple started crying and saying: ‘I’m going to lose custody of (the child).’
After asking the child what happened, the child said that they flushed $720 in rent money down the toilet when Whipple refused to watch a movie. That’s when Whipple reportedly started beating the child.
One of the roommates said she heard ‘multiple slapping sounds’ and the child crying, while another roommate said he heard ‘a couple of smacks’ and Whipple saying ‘I wish I never had you.’
Whipple was arrested and booked in Orange County Jail on a felony child-abuse charge. She was released from jail on bail on Monday.
Meanwhile the Department of Children and Families was notified about the incident and the child was placed in the care of Whipple’s boyfriend.
