A police officer had pulled over to assist two people who had just been involved in a car accident on a freeway in Connecticut.

However as they were waiting by the side of the road another vehicle came smashing into the stationary cars, missing the other drivers were inches.

The driver of the car, 21-year-old Yoni Rojas, was charged with endangerment, reckless driving and other driving related charges.

Rojas suffered minor injuries but no one else was hurt, according to police.

The car was travelling at more than 85mph (137kmph), according to police reports.

Local news reports says the driver of the vehicle, 21 year-old Yoni Rojas, suffered minor injuries and was charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane.
